What are DTF transfers?
DTF (Direct to Film) transfers are full-color heat transfers printed onto a special film and applied to garments using a heat press. They offer vibrant color, fine detail, excellent stretch, and strong durability without the need for weeding or cutting.
What fabrics can DTF transfers be applied to?
DTF transfers work on a wide variety of fabrics, including:
-
Cotton
-
Polyester
-
Cotton/poly blends
-
Performance fabrics
DTF transfers can be used on both light and dark garments.
Do I need a heat press?
Yes. A professional heat press is required for proper adhesion and durability.
Household irons or Cricut EasyPress machines are not recommended and may result in poor adhesion, cracking, or peeling.
What heat press settings should I use?
Recommended starting settings:
-
Temperature: 130–140°C (266–284°F)
-
Time: 10–15 seconds
-
Pressure: Medium to Heavy
Settings may vary slightly depending on your heat press and garment type. Always test before full production.
How do I apply a DTF transfer?
-
Set heat press to 130–140°C (266–284°F)
-
Pre-press garment for 3–5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles
-
Place the DTF transfer face-up (film on top, design facing up)
-
Press for 10–15 seconds using medium to heavy pressure
-
Peel immediately while hot
-
Cover with a Teflon sheet or parchment paper
-
Press again at 137°C (280°F) for 5 seconds
The second press improves durability and creates a softer hand feel.
Is this a hot peel or cold peel transfer?
Our DTF transfers are hot peel. The carrier film should be removed immediately after pressing while still hot.
How durable are DTF transfers?
When applied correctly and cared for properly, DTF transfers are highly durable, stretch-resistant, and designed to withstand repeated washes.
How should garments be washed?
To extend the life of your DTF transfer:
-
Wait 24 hours before washing
-
Machine wash cold, inside out
-
Use mild detergent
-
Do not bleach
-
Tumble dry low or hang dry
-
Do not iron directly on the design
-
Avoid dry cleaning
Are DTF transfers soft?
Yes. DTF transfers have a soft, flexible feel compared to traditional vinyl, especially after the final press.
What sizes are the transfers?
Transfer sizes are listed in inches on each product listing.
-
Size appearance may vary depending on garment size and placement
-
We recommend measuring garments and planning placement before pressing
No refunds or reprints will be issued for size-related concerns.
Can I resize the transfers?
No. Transfers arrive at the size ordered and cannot be resized once printed.
Do you accept returns or exchanges?
No. All DTF transfer sales are final.
DTF transfers are non-refundable, non-returnable, and non-exchangeable.
What if I press the transfer incorrectly?
We do not offer refunds or reprints due to:
-
Incorrect press settings
-
Insufficient pressure
-
Incorrect peel method
-
Improper garment type
-
Operator error
Testing before full production is strongly recommended.
